Dusan
Pejakovic, Ph.D.

Program Officer, Science

Dusan helped launch the foundation’s Emergent Phenomena in Quantum Systems Initiative, whose aim is to promote the discovery and understanding of materials in which strong interactions between constituent particles produce new forms of quantum matter with fascinating and potentially useful properties. He also serves as lead on science program grants spanning astronomy, condensed matter physics, atomic physics, quantum electromechanics, seismology, earth system science and renewable energy technologies.

Previously, Dusan was a research staff scientist at SRI International, where he investigated molecular and atomic collisional processes relevant to planetary atmospheres, surface-catalyzed reactions and physical properties of ultrahigh-temperature ceramics. At SRI, he also established a research program in thin-film synthesis of novel materials for hypersonics. He also spent a year as a postdoctoral scientist at the Ohio State University, focusing on polymer-based magnets and photo-induced magnetic effects.

Dusan was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, where he obtained a B.S. in physics. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from the Ohio State University.
