Closure of patientINFORM

patientINFORM has ceased operation, effective October 31, 2017.

Launched in 2005, the program brought together publishers of many of the world’s leading medical journals and some of the world's most trusted Voluntary Health Organizations (VHOs) to provide patients and their caregivers with access to up-to-date, reliable, and important research articles about the diagnosis and treatment of specific diseases.

During the past 12 years, the landscape for access to the research journal literature has changed considerably, and there are many more avenues to access journal articles. In recent years, we have observed declining access through the portals served by patientINFORM.  As a result, the program has ceased operating and turned over the article delivery function to more streamlined and efficient operations that have developed over the past decade.

We thank the publishers and VHOs that have participated in this program and we applaud those who have worked so hard to expand the breadth of information available to the public at little or no cost.
