Global Health Observatory (GHO) data
Monitoring health for the SDGs
Welcome to the Global Health Observatory, WHO's gateway to health-related statistics for more than 1000 indicators for its 194 Member States.
Data are organized to monitor progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including health status indicators to monitor progress towards for the overall health goal, indicators to track equity in health indicators, and the indicators for the specific health and health-related targets of the SDGs.
Global Strategy for Women's, Children's and Adolescents' Health (2016-2030): Data portal
The Every Woman Every Child Global Strategy indicator and monitoring framework includes 60 indicators from health and other sectors. 34 indicators are from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 26 from related global monitoring initiatives. From these, 16 key indicators are highlighted to provide a snapshot of progress.
The Global Strategy portal provides open access to the latest available data and estimates for the 60 indicators across 194 countries. This involves collaboration across WHO departments, H6 agencies (UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, WHO and the World Bank), other UN organizations - including the UN Statistics Division and UNESCO, and global monitoring partnerships, including the Countdown to 2030 and academic institutions.
Global Observatory on Health Research and Development (R&D)
Published following wide user feedback on a demonstration version, this is a centralized and comprehensive source of information and analyses on global health R&D activities. The Observatory monitors various health R&D related data and incorporates these in comprehensive analyses, with interactive visualizations to help users track and investigate the development in health R&D across many dimensions.
The Observatory will help governments, policy-makers, funders and researchers identify health R&D priorities based on public health needs and ensure that funds and resources are used to fill R&D gaps.
Tracking progress towards Universal Health Coverage
WHO's Universal Health Coverage data portal shows where countries need to improve access to services, and where they need to improve information.
The portal features the latest data on access to health services globally and in each of WHO’s 194 Member States, along with information about equity of access. Next year WHO will add data on the impact that paying for health services has on household finances.
