WHO in collaboration with the Ministry of Health established water quality control to prevent water-borne diseases in South Sudan

21 November 2017 Juba -- The cost of delivering safe water, sanitation and hygiene services is a public health concern in South Sudan. To ensure high quality, sustainable water quality testing, monitoring and surveillance, WHO provided mobile water quality and safety testing kits to the National Public Health Laboratory. The mobile kits are to be used to test and monitor the quality and safety of water in the country.

Iraq: WHO airlifts medical supplies to treat wounded in Islamic Republic of Iran-Iraq earthquake

Additional trauma kits are available in WHO’s emergency logistical centre in Dubai and will be delivered as needed to health facilities reporting shortages

16 November 2017, Cairo, Egypt – WHO has airlifted trauma kits and medical supplies to the Islamic Republic of Iran to support the treatment of thousands people injured as a result of the recent earthquake in the Islamic Republic of Iran-Iraq border region.

Oral cholera vaccination campaign kicks off at Rohingya camps in Bangladesh

10 October 2017 -- A massive cholera immunization campaign started today near Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, to protect newly arrived Rohingya and host communities from the life-threatening diarrheal disease. At least 900 000 doses of the vaccine have been mobilized and are being delivered by more than 200 mobile vaccination teams, making it large scale oral cholera vaccination campaign.

WHO delivers lifesaving trauma medicines and supplies for victims of Mogadishu blasts

17 October 2017 - WHO has delivered lifesaving blood supplies and trauma care medicines as part of its emergency response to the bombings in Mogadishu, Somalia on 14 October, in which more than 275 people were killed and more than 300 people severely injured. Three tonnes of emergency medicines, medical and surgical supplies and 500 blood group testing kits were rapidly deployed to overwhelmed hospitals faced with increasing numbers of casualties in critical condition.
