ARCC and Mekong ARCC

WRI has contributed to two ground-breaking adaptation programs funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The African and Latin American Resilience to Climate Change (ARCC) program focused on incorporating adaptation into financial investments, in order to support sustainable and climate-resilient economic development. The program improved the resilience of vulnerable populations in the target regions by providing technical, analytical, and practical assistance, as well as capacity building. It aimed to strengthen decision-making by promoting an evidence-based approach and increasing participation at the local level.

The Mekong Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change (Mekong ARCC) project identified the impacts of climate change in the Lower Mekong Basin on sectors such as water, agriculture, ecosystems, and livelihoods, and it assisted highly vulnerable rural populations in increasing their ability to adapt.  The work created a unique link between scientific findings and community knowledge, which produced inclusive and accessible information for decision makers.

WRI contributed to both the ARCC and Mekong ARCC programs by producing the following analytical reports:
