Cleaning up carbon pollution protects our environment and supports a strong, clean-energy economy
One way to avoid dangerous climate change is to take immediate steps to implement the wide variety of solutions that are already at hand. There are many cost-effective opportunities to achieve significant reductions in carbon pollution, including promoting more energy efficient homes and businesses, improved industrial practices, and cleaner sources of energy. EPA is taking a number of common-sense steps to address the challenge of climate change through standards that reduce carbon pollution from the largest sources. These standards will prevent harmful pollution from our power plants, and cars and trucks, while saving consumers money at the pump and building a strong, clean-energy economy. As history has shown, taking action under the Clean Air Act can protect the air we breathe, improve our environment, and support a growing American economy.
