Rule Information
Proposed and Promulgated Rules
Subpart LL - National Emission Standards for Primary Aluminum Reduction Plants
NOTE: All files are Government Printing Office (GPO) files unless otherwise indicated.
Closely Related Rules, Policies or Program Guidance
Secondary Aluminum NESHAP (40 CFR part 63 subpart RRR). A possibly related rule that applies to major and area source facilities in the secondary aluminum production industry. The affected operations in this industry include aluminum scrap shredders; thermal chip dryers; scrap dryer/delacquering kiln/decoating kiln; secondary aluminum processing furnaces; aluminum sweat furnaces; dross-only furnaces; rotary dross coolers; and other secondary aluminum processing units.
Settlement Agreement in the Secondary Aluminum NESHAP with the American Foundrymen's Society, the North American Die Casting Association, the Non-Ferrous Founders' Society, and the Aluminum Association. As part of the rule development for the Secondary Aluminum NESHAP (subpart RRR), various amendments were made to this related rule as a result of petitions from these aluminum associations.
Voluntary Aluminum Industrial Partnership (VAIP) This is an innovative pollution prevention program developed jointly by EPA and the primary aluminum industry. Participating companies (partners) work with EPA to improve aluminum production efficiency while reducing perfluorocarbon (PFC) emissions, potent greenhouse gases that remain in the atmosphere for thousands of years.
