Plating and Polishing Operatons - National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Area Sources
Background
These standards are being developed under the Clean Air Act, section 112(k). Under section 112(k), EPA developed a national strategy to address air toxic pollution from "area" sources. Area sources are defined as sources that emit hazardous air pollutants (HAP) below the major source level of 10 tons/year of a single HAP or 25 tons/year of all HAP. As part of that strategy, several area source categories were listed for regulation. Plating and Polishing Operations was listed as one of those categories, and these standards will establish requirements to control pollution from this source category.
