He received the B. S. degree, the M. S. degree in information and communication engineering, and the Ph. D. degree in electronic engineering, all from the University of Tokyo, in 1998, 2000, and 2003, respectively. From April 2003 to June 2006, he was a assistant professor at Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Graduate School of Dentistry, Osaka University. In July 2006, he became a lecturer at Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Osaka University Dental Hospital. Since March 2008, he has been a specially appointed associate professor at the Center for Advanced Medical Engineering and Informatics (MEI Center), Osaka University.
