Harsh R. Sheth , MD

Fellow
Research and Development
Stanford Biodesign Program
Stanford, CA

Harsh was born and raised in Mumbai, India, the city of dreams and countless opportunities. His interest in biology started during his schooling days, when he learnt about frog and goat anatomy in the Biology lab under the expert guidance of his Biology professors. Going on to do a residency in the field of General Surgery, was but a natural progression, after completing his Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery. He completed his post-graduation degree in General Surgery from Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and King Edward Memorial hospital, a premier government institution, in 2014. During his residency program, he developed a variety of low cost medical devices, notably, a home-made glove port for Single Incision Laproscopic Surgery (SILS) and a vaccum based abdominal wound manager to manage abdominal dehiscence. Not satisfied with just clinical work, he delved into the realm of medical devices during his residency days. He has a variety of ideas and solutions, which he hopes to put into effect during his stint as a Research Fellow at Stanford-India Biodesign. Having seen poverty at a grassroot level, after working at a government hospital in India, he has developed an appetite to make quality products, which will be available to the masses at a low cost. Harsh is passionate about his career as a surgeon, with special interests in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Minimally Invasive surgery and Robotic Surgery. His ultimate goal is to emulate the great Surgeons of yore, by creating devices and solutions that he can use in his own practice. Besides work, he is an avid reader and also enjoys writing. He loves to travel and is musically inclined as a vocalist. Linked in profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/slitnstitch. Blog: https://harshshethblog.wordpress.com
