After receiving a Bachelor's Degree from Cornell University and a Master's Degree from MIT in Mechanical Engineering, Rich began his career in the medtech industry in 2006 at Ethicon Inc, a Johnson & Johnson company. At Ethicon, Rich has worked on the development of eight products from a gastric banding implant to laparoscopic stapling and energy devices, and is an inventor on 26 issued U.S. patents. Most recently, Rich was lead engineer for a product of his invention. Currently on the market for 4 months, the product is delighting customers and exceeding all sales forecasts. Rich is looking forward to meeting and collaborating with the esteemed faculty, fellows, and candidates at the Stanford Biodesign program and sees this as a fantastic next chapter in his career and life.
