Brook Byers is currently an investment partner on the Life Sciences Team at Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield, & Byers. The Life Sciences Team focuses on investing in companies creating new products and addressing unmet needs in medicine, healthcare, and biotechnology sectors. Mr. Byers has helped develope more than 110 life sciences companies that have gone onto create hundreds of products for the medical industry. He currently serves on the board of CardioDX, Crescendo, Five Prime Therapeutics, Foundation Medicine, OptiMedica, Pacific Biosciences, Inc., Tethys, Veracyte and XDx, Inc. Mr. Byers previously served as a director for companies such as Idec Pharmaceuticals, Athena Neurosciences and others. These companies pioneered in the fields of molecular biology, personalized medicine, and genomics and sequencing. He was also a founder of TechNet. Byers is also on the Board of Trustees of Stanford University in addition to being a board member of the University of California, San Francisco Medical Foundation, and the New Schools Foundation. Mr. Byers graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and later an M.B.A. from Stanford University. In 2010 he was awarded an honorary Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology.
