Brian Fahey was raised outside of Boston, Massachusetts. He received a B.S. degree in biomedical engineering from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University, where he helped develop novel ultrasound imaging equipment and techniques for cancer detection. Many of these technology developments are now deployed in a product manufactured by Siemens Ultrasound. After completing the Biodesign Fellowship, Brian consulted for three venture-backed medical device start-ups, contributing in areas ranging from ultrasound applications to early-stage concept generation and prototype development. He went on to found Niveus Medical, a venture-backed start-up focused on improving critical care outcomes.
