David A. Levine is a registered patent attorney and founding partner of Levine Bagade Han LLP, a Palo Alto patent law firm specializing in medical device technologies. The firm focuses on domestic and foreign patent drafting and prosecution, trademark filing and prosecution, intellectual property portfolio management, and strategy development. Mr. Levine has extensive experience in patent prosecution and intellectual property due diligence for funding, asset acquisition, and licensing representing investors, acquirers, target companies, licensors and licensees. Mr. Levine has also provided strategic advice for large and complex patent portfolios, negotiated and drafted patent licenses and assignments, prosecuted trademarks and supported patent litigation. Mr. Levine previously worked as a patent examiner in a medical device art unit at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and interned to Chief Judge Mayer of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Previously, he was also an associate in the life sciences patent group of Morrison & Foerster. He was nominated and selected as a Northern California Rising Star in the area of intellectual property law by Super Lawyers magazine. Mr. Levine has also lectured on intellectual property at Stanford University's Biodesign and Management Science and Engineering programs. Before beginning his legal career, Mr. Levine performed NASA-sponsored research to create a computer-based biomechanical human model. Additionally, he conducted research involving artificial ligament development and artificial joint implant design. His other work with NASA includes designing and prototyping specialized shoes to minimize muscle atrophy during extended stays in reduced gravity environment. Mr. Levine has a J.D. from George Washington University, B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering with Biomedical Engineering Specialties in both degrees and a minor in business from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a member of the state bar of California and registered to practice before the U.S. patent and Trademark office.
