David Piacquad is the vice president of Strategy and Corporate Development at Amgen Ventures, a medical device company developing safe innovative human therapeutics. At Amgen Mr. Piacquad is responsible for mergers and acquisitions, strategy, and licensing. He was responsible for acquiring Biovex, Bergamo (Brazil) and Micromet and Mustafa Nevzat (Turkey). Prior to joining Amgen in 2010, Mr. Piacquad was a Principal at David A. Piacquad Consulting, LLC., a consulting firm providing strategic support to CEO's of venture-backed biopharmaceutical companies. From 2006 to 2009, he served as Senior Vice President of Business Development at Schering-Plough. Mr. Piacquad also spent a number of years at Johnson & Johnson, first as Vice President of Business Development and then Vice President of Ventures and Business Development. While at Johnson & Johnson, he was involved in the Centocor and ALZA mergers as well as the Inverness Medical and Aveeno acquisitions. Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Piacquad was Chief Financial Officer of Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Vice President of Licensing & Acquisitions at McNeil Consumer & Speciality Pharmaceuticals, and Vice President of McNeil Consumer Products. Mr. Piacquad holds an M.B.A in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School and a B.A. in Philosophy from Colgate University.
