Edwin Hlavka , MS

Edwin Hlavka received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford in 1987 followed by an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford in 1989. He was with Origin MedSystems Product Development for 6 years during which he explored the technical areas of trocars, balloon dissectors, and exposure devices for laparoscopic general, gynecological, and urologic surgery. He also has experience in Procedure Development/Marketing, specifically regarding minimally invasive spinal surgery. Mr. Hlavka has also held the position of Director of Product Development, Division of Cardiac and Vascular Surgery at Guidant. His experience includes OP-CABG tools, exposure devices, anastomosis technology, VasoView and minimally invasive saphenous vein graft harvesting system. In addition, he is Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Dhc Systems Inc., a company focusing on catheter based mitral valve therapy for congestive heart failure. Through these various positions Mr. Hlavka has been involved with consulting Intellectual property litigation, product liability litigation, technology development (neuro protection, drug delivery, spine surgery), quality systems/regulatory, and business development.
