Gary S. Guthart has been the President, CEO, and Member of the Board of Directors at Intuitive Surgical, Inc. since 2010. Prior to assuming the position of CEO, Dr. Guthart was Chief Operating Officer. Before joining Intuitive, Dr. Guthart was a member of a core team developing foundation technology for computer enhanced-surgery at SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute). Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of Affymetrix, Inc. Furthermore, Dr. Guthart received a B.S. in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated magna cum laude and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the California Institute of Technology.
