Greg grew up in Northern Virginia and St. Louis, Missouri. From there he moved to New Haven, CT where he graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Economics & Mathematics; and Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry.

In 2000, Greg completed a M.Sc. degree in Applied Statistics at the University of Oxford. Between graduate and medical school he spent a year backpacking and photographing his way around the world.

Greg graduated with a M.D. from Yale School of Medicine in 2006. His medical thesis research was on childhood Chagas Disease, which was conducted in La Paz, Bolivia, where he lived for a year.

His personal interests include international travel, hiking, mountaineering, cycling, triathlons, and several other athletic pursuits. His career goals are to become a trauma/critical care surgeon, to advance the field through innovation, to be involved in medical relief in developing countries, and to raise awareness of the medical needs of these countries.

As a Biodesign Fellow from 2008-2010, Greg worked primarily on two projects, one invention to treat hemorrhoids and another to treat fecal incontinence. Greg co-founded start-up companies around each device. The hemorrhoids product became the basis for the company Orpheus Medical, which is funded by the medical device incubator Incuvate. Greg remains a consultant for Orpheus Medical and they began clinical testing in 2012. The fecal incontinence product became the company Pelvalon, which is venture capital funded and started clinical testing in 2011.
