Geoffrey D. Rubin, M.D., is the chairman of the Department of Radiology at Duke University School of Medicine. His current research focus is on coupling cardiovascular and pulmonary CT and MRI with novel image processing techniques for better treatment planning. His other clinical interests include cardiovascular and pulmonary imaging, 3-D visualization and analysis, and CT and MR imaging. Prior to joining Duke, Dr. Rubin was professor and chief of cardiovascular imaging in Stanford's Department of Radiology in addition to being a co-founder and the medical director of the 3D laboratory in the same department. Concurrently, he also served as vice chief of staff at Stanford Hospitals and associate deal for clinical affairs for Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Rubin is on the advisory board of Fovia, HeartFlow, Informatics in Context, and Terarecon. In 1982, Dr. Rubin received his bachelor's degree with honors from Caltech and later his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine in 1987. In 1998, he completed his transitional internship at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. He went on to complete the remainder of his residency in Radiology at Stanford University Medical Center. By 1993, he had completed his fellowship in Body Imaging at Stanford. Additionally, Dr. Rubin serves as President-elect of the North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging, president-elect of the Society of Computed Body Tomography and Magnetic Resonance, secretary of the Fleischner Society, and chair of the Committee on Cardiovascular Imaging at the American College of Radiology.
