Joseph A. Knight , MS

Joseph is currently working towards a doctorate at the Swiss Federated Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. At the ETH, Joseph performs research in biomedical engineering, combining computational fluid dynamics and clinical imaging to better understand and meet clinical needs associated with the coronary arteries of the heart. Joseph was the 2005-2006 Grube Fellow. He and the team of Cardiovascular Fellows were awarded an NCIAA grant to further one of the concepts developed during the fellowship. The team also made the semi-final round for the e-Challenge Business Plan Competition, as well as winning the BOOMER Business Plan Competition. Before the innovation program, Joseph was a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of South Florida (USF) College of Engineering. He completed his B.S. in Engineering Science (2002) and his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering (2004) at USF. Joseph served as a Marketing Intern at the USF Division of Patents and Licensing where he has developed extensive experience in intellectual property evaluation, technology and market assessment, and the patent processes. He worked with CrossTree Capital Partners, a Life Sciences industry-focused investment banking firm, as a Kauffman Entrepreneur Intern, and has assisted Saneron-CCEL Therapeutics, Inc., a firm focused on stem cell technologies, in the development of a subsidiary.
