Joseph Lacob has been a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers since 1987 where he has established a successful investing record across multiple disciplines. Specifically, Mr. Lacob has helped invest in more than 50 life science companies which include a dozen medical device startups. He also assists in KPCB's medical technology practice, which includes more than 30 therapeutic and diagnostic medical device companies. Additionally, his work as an active investing partner involves online company initiatives helping to lead the firms investments in AutoTrader.com and Sportsline. Most recently, Mr. Lacob has focused on energy investments as part of KPCB's initiative in the greentech and alternative energy sectors. Such investment companies include GloriOil, in microbial enhanced oil recovery, and SunDrop Fuels, a company turning biomass and natural gas into clean, cost-effective liquid transportation fuels. Mr. Lacob serves on the board of directors of public company Align Technology and four privately held companies: Ophthonix, NeuroPace, TherOx, and TransMedics. He is also involved in organizations such as the American Heart Association and the AHA Roundtable as well as serving on advisory boards at Stanford University's Medical Center, Business School, and Athletic Department. Mr. Lacob holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, his master's degree in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business. In 2011, Mr. Lacob acquired The Golden State Warriors of the NBA. He is also a Managing Partner and CEO of the Warriors.
