John Simpson, M.D., Ph.D., is currently an independent consultant. Previously, he founded and served as CEO of FoxHollow Technolgies until its merger with ev3 in 2006. Dr. Simpson became chief scientist and vice chairman but later stepped down from the positions in 2008. He also served as a board member of FoxHollow since founding it in 1996. Dr. Simpson has also served in a variety of positions at De Novo Ventures most notably Managing Director and Clinical Director. His other notable positions include partner at Cardiovascular Medicine and Coronary Interventions. He also founded Perclose and a professor of clinical medicine at Stanford University. Dr. Simpson received his B.S. degree in Agriculture from Ohio State University and his M.D. from the Duke University School of Medicine. He also holds an M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Texas.
