R. James Yu , MD
Fellow
Urology
Stanford, CA
James Yu is currently a fifth-year resident in urology at the Stanford University Medical Center. He completed his B.S. in Bioengineering with honors at UCSD in 2002. During that time, he worked in product development at a medical device startup to treat female stress incontinence, and in polymer scaffolding at a tissue engineering firm.
After deciding that patient care was important to him, he ultimately attended the USC Keck School of Medicine where he received his M.D., and AOA honors in 2006. He came to Stanford in 2006 for his general surgery and urology residency. His interests include medical device innovation, outcomes research, urologic oncology, chronic venous insufficiency, and healthcare for the underserved. Having completed the Biodesign Fellowship in 2010, he now seeks to combine that training with his clinical practice to directly impact patients.
