Timothy Mills, Ph.D., is a managing director at Sanderling Ventures, an investment firm dedicated to building new biomedical companies. He joined the Sanderling in 1998 and was later promoted to managing director in 2000. Dr. Mills focuses on early state investments in medical devices, biotherapeutics, and i-Health. Portfolio companies previously served at Sanderling include Stereotaxis (NASDAQ: STXS), Stentor, acquired by Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI), CardioNet (NASDAQ: BEAT), and Taligen Therapeutics, acquired by Alexion Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ALXN). Dr. Mills active roles within Sanderling's portfolio companies include Chairman or CEO of Torax Medical, Pulsar Vascular, Theregen, Novostent and Director for NeoMend, Naviscan, and InfraReDx. Prior to Sanderling, Dr. Mills was the Corporate Vice President of New Business Development and Chief Scientific Officer of Target Therapeutics (acquired by Boston Scientific). He went on to serve as Director for Prograft Medical (acquired by W.L Gore & Associates). Before Target and Prograft, he was Director of Business Development and Advanced Research & Development in the Interventional Cardiology Division of Baxter Healthcare, now Edwards Life Science. Previously, Dr. Mills has served as Director of the Artificial Heart Program at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center and faculty member of the University of California, San Francisco Radiology department. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering & computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Mills received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of California & San Francisco School of Medicine. Additionally, he is an advisory board member of the University of Colorado Technology Transfer Office. He is also a program faculty member of the Stanford University Biodesign program.
