Ms. Young Kim is Co-Founder, President and Principal Consultant of Synex Consulting Ltd., a Seoul-based consulting firm specializing in solutions for international healthcare market access encompassing regulatory approvals, clinical trials, reimbursement listing, market research and business model development. She has worked in medical and pharmaceutical businesses in public and private sectors for 25+ years during which she has evolved from a technical expert in healthcare business and regulatory affairs at a national level to an insightful executive embracing a full range of business issues globally. She has taken leadership positions in healthcare industries including Korea Medical Device Industry Association (Non-standing Director, 2009- present; Chairperson of Education Committee, 2009-2010; Deputy Chairperson 2004-2005), Korea Society of Food, Drug and Cosmetics Regulatory Sciences (director, 2009 - present) and Korea Association of Health Technology Assessment (director, 2008-2009). She has also been invited to advisory roles to Korea Food & Drug Administration (KFDA), Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) and Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW). She is active in researches, lectures or public presentations about medical technology business and policy topics. She previously served in the United States Embassy in Seoul, 1988 - 2001, as Senior Commercial Specialist for healthcare industries and bilateral government-to-government trade negotiations. During this time, Ms. Kim wrote on healthcare industries and intellectual property rights protection in Korea with market research and policy observations that were published under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Ms. Kim has been the recipient of several awards including the KFDA Commissioner's Award in 2005 and the Award for Foreign Service National of the Year 2000 by the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.
