SSB CURRICULUM HEAD Job Description
The SSB Curriculum Head will be responsible for leading and further developing the SSB Innovation Class and other curriculum-related growth initatives. The Curriculum Head is expected to work closely with various university faculties, various senior-level industry speakers, medtech companies and hospitals across Singapore and the region. The position will report to the SSB Program Director.
About SSB Innovation Class
The SSB Innovation Class is the only class offered outside Stanford University that provides broad-based, hands-on training on the Biodesign process: a design-thinking approach to identify clinical needs, invent new medical technologies and implement innovations into sustainable business. The class is offered to medicine, engineering and business post-graduates from NUS, NTU and SMU; and industry students from MNCs, SMEs, hospitals and SSB Corporate Members.
Lead and Enhance SSB Innovation Class
- Provide overall leadership in execution of the 14-week SSB Innovation Class
- Conduct selected lectures
- Engage and maintain existing pool of senior-level industry speakers
- Oversee SSB Fellows in mentoring university student teams and their projects
- Evaluate and enhance class curriculum to ensure continued relevance to students and the industry
- Manage the student selection process to ensure quality of university and industry students enrolled into the Innovation class
Strategize and Lead Potential Growth Initiatives
- SSB Curriculum Head will be tasked to explore, propose and lead the following potential growth initiatives, in collaboration with various university faculties across Singapore –
- Creation of potential Innovation Class extension or module, and
- Creation of Asian medtech curriculum research and case studies
- Work closely with Program Director to explore and plan regional training programs with regional universities
- Work closely with Fellowship Head on creation of an introductory version (3-4 days workshop format) of Innovation Class for medtech companies and hospitals
Qualifications
- PhD holder with >5 years experience in teaching and/or curriculum development
- Interest to build academic career around medical technology innovation
- Experience as Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in a university preferred
- Enjoy mentoring students and working in a start-up environment
- This is a part-time, 40% FTE position
SSB Program Office will make provisions for the incoming SSB Curriculum Head to receive training on the acclaimed Biodesign process
