The Jeanne Sauvé Public Leadership Program exists for young leaders from across the globe who want to change the world. It is a unique program designed to equip, enable and empower a new generation of global leaders.

Launched in 2014, the Jeanne Sauvé Public Leadership Program builds on the strength of the Sauvé Scholars Program, which commenced in 2003. The Sauvé Scholars Program evolved from the Jeanne Sauvé Youth Foundation, created in 1991 by the late Jeanne Sauvé, the first woman to serve as Governor General of Canada, the country’s Head of State and Commander-in-Chief.

Jeanne Sauvé Fellows are highly motivated independent thinkers between 25 and 30 years with demonstrated skills as agents of change, who are offered a unique opportunity to spend 11 months away from their studies, careers or other formal commitments, for a period of reflection and self-realization – both personal and professional.

The Award

Jeanne Sauvé Fellows will spend Year One in a full-time intensive residential phase in Montreal as a group. Together, they will design and undertake a faciliated project that culminates in a series of public engagement activities addressing the challenge of strenghtening culturally diverse societies through public leadership.

In Year Two, the Fellows will return to their respective communities, countries or elsewhere to continue on their individual public leadership journeys, either through continued work or study. During this field phase, participants will receive ongoing support from Sauvé mentors, partners, personal coaches and the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation; continue to exchange with their fellow program participants on a regular basis and have access to the Fellows’ Collaboration Fund.

Accommodation is provided with a dozen remarkable peers in an historic house in the heart of Montreal.

In August, up to 12 young men and women from around the world gather in Montreal, Canada to embark on a rewarding personal and intellectual program combining reflection, study, travel and community engagement along with participation in conferences, seminars, cultural and sports events.

Eligibility

Be between 25 and 30 years of age on August 15
Have completed at least one university degree
Possess high oral and written proficiency in English (French language sills are an asset)
Have at least three years of full-time professional experience
Have a strong record of leadership benefitting a particular community or cause in the public interest

A genuine desire to serve the public interest and in the public sphere
The will and skill to think and act across differencds as a public leader
The ability to work well in an intercultureal andinternational team of your peers, both as a member and a leader
Sharp critial thinking skills
An orginal approach to solving a real-world problem
A burning curiosity about globally-significant issues and how they connect
A passion for excellence
