If you don't need your permit any more...

You're leaving Stanford...you're moving off-campus...you've decided to swap the gas pedal for the bike pedal - DON'T THROW YOUR PERMIT AWAY! Return it to us - you may be eligible for a prorated refund or Clean Air Cash! *

Your parking permit must be returned to Parking & Transportation Services (P&TS) when you end employment. You may be eligible for a refund from P&TS upon the return of your permit.

Please visit P&TS to return your permit and obtain your refund (if eligible). P&TS is located on campus at 340 Bonair Siding, Stanford, CA 94305, and is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays.

Unexpired permits not returned within 30 days will be reported to the Department of Public Safety. Since permits are the property of Stanford, permits not returned may be considered stolen property. Further use may result in fines, loss of future parking privileges, and/or legal action.

* Refund value is calculated at monthly rates - call Parking & Transportation Services at 723-9362 and we'll tell you what your permit is worth. If you're paying for your permit through recurring debits/charges, we'll also need your authorization to stop payments. Keep in mind, we can't stop the deductions or give you a refund until your permit has been returned to us, and your permit decreases in value with each passing day. This program is NOT part of the University's Payroll Direct Deposit Program.

If you need to exchange your permit...

If you change dorms and need to park in a different lot, come to Parking & Transportation Services. We'll swap your old permit for your new location - no service charges.

If you sell your car...

...you can't sell your parking permit along with it. Return your permit to us for a prorated refund, or we'll exchange it for a permit that meets your needs.

How to remove a non-transferable permit

  1. Cover the back of the permit completely with Scotch tape (this keeps it from shredding into little bits)
  2. Using a razor blade, lift up one corner of the permit. Start peeling up gently, working the razor underneath until it's all off
  3. If there's any residue left, or if the permit is still giving you grief, wipe it all away with rubbing alcohol or GooGone
