STANFORD, Calif. - The Super Bowl 50 Host Committee confirmed Thursday that during the week before the game is played at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, one competing team will practice at Stanford.

The Stanford-bound team will have access to the Cardinal's practice and training facilities prior to the game scheduled for Feb. 7, 2016.

"We are honored to host a Super Bowl team. Stanford has outstanding facilities, and special people who will take pride in providing a great environment for a team to prepare for the biggest game of the year," said Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw.

The team will spend five days practicing at either Stanford Stadium or Elliott Practice Field. In addition, the team will have access to the newly-minted Stanford Stadium field house and use of an on-campus weight room. Team meetings will take place in the conference rooms of the Arrillaga Family Sports Center, with meeting and office space available in the Stanford Stadium skybox.

"The facilities, operated by helpful and capable staffs, meet our high standards and will enable the clubs to remain singularly focused on winning the Super Bowl," said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy.

Traditionally, the teams arrive on the Sunday or Monday before the Super Bowl to hold their final practices and meetings, as well as conduct their media responsibilities.

In 1985, Super Bowl XIX was held in Stanford Stadium. In that game, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Miami Dolphins, 38-16. Stanford Stadium is one of two venues -- including the Rose Bowl -- to host a Super Bowl without previously serving as the home stadium of an NFL or AFL team.
