STANFORD, Calif. - It was an up-and-down year for the Cardinal, who finished the 2014-15 season with a 7-9 record. In the end, however, 11th-year coach Mark Talbott led Stanford to a berth in the Kurtz Cup, eventually capturing the trophy for the first time in program history.

Start Strong, Finish Strong

The Cardinal began the season on a high note with a dominant 8-1 victory over Williams College followed by a 7-3 defeat of George Washington. Playing in the No. 1 position in her collegiate debut against Williams, freshman Sarah Bell cruised in straight sets for a 3-0 victory. Also making her debut was freshman Christie Huchro, who went the distance in the No. 2 position but eventually prevailed.

A rough stretch ensued for the Cardinal, winning one of its next eight matches. However, the Cardinal ended the season on a high note, sweeping the Kurtz Cup with a perfect 3-0 record.

Farming Runs in the Family

After 61 appearances at Stanford, 2015 marks the end of the road for senior captain Ally Huchro. The Huchro name lives on at Stanford, however, with younger sister Christie entering the fray for her sister’s final season. Christie Huchro made 11 appearances for the Cardinal, including two wins at the No. 2 position. The freshman finished her first season on The Farm with an 8-3 record overall.

Freshmen Sensations

One of the brightest spots of the season for Stanford was undoubtedly the contributions made by all three of its three freshmen. Sarah Bell, Tatyanna Dadabbo and Christie Huchro, combined for 21 wins, with Bell and Huchro each tallying a team-high eight wins. Bell and Huchro also had a cumulative 9-3 record at the No. 2 position.

Kurtz Cup Champions

On a snowy Presidents' Day Weekend in Cambrdige, Massachusetts, No. 10 Stanford topped No. 15 Drexel, No. 11 Brown and No. 9 Dartmouth to win the Kurtz Cup for the first time in program history. The Kurtz Cup is an annual end-of-season trophy held between the ninth through 16th-ranked teams in the nation.

CC Ho, Sarah Bell, and Christie Huchro combined to go 9-0 over the three matches at positions 1-3, never losing a set in the competition. In the final match, Stanford took five of the top six positions en route to a 6-3 win over Dartmouth. Ho, Bell, Huchro, Ally Huchro, Tatyanna Dadabbo, and Julia Olson all earned valuable points
