STANFORD, Calif. - Andrea Lee, one of the top student-athletes in the class of 2016, signed a National Letter of Intent Wednesday to continue her academic and athletic career with the defending national champion Stanford women’s golf team.

 Lee, who lives in Hermosa Beach, California, is ranked the No. 2 junior player in the country and No. 24 in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking. She has been a standout on the American Junior Golf Association circuit, earning Rolex Junior All-American first team honors from 2012-15.

“Andrea is an extremely accomplished golfer not only at the junior level but also at the amateur level,” said Anne Walker, the Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf at Stanford. “She has a steady, consistent game that puts her in position to win every golf tournament she plays. Her commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the golf course sets her apart from her peers. I believe that Andrea will jump into the college golf world like a veteran player and we are more than thrilled that she choose Stanford.”

Last year, Lee won the Rolex Tournament of Champions and Yani Tseng Invitational back-to-back. The latter earned an invite to the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic, where she made the cut. Lee also qualified and made the cut at the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open at Pinehurst Country Club.

At three-time Scholar Athlete Award winner at Mira Costa High (Calif.), she helped her team win the 2013 and 2015 CIF-SS Central Division Central Division Championship and was the CIF Northern Region and state individual champion in 2013. Lee also captured the 2015 Women’s Southern California Amateur Championship also medalist and was the individual champion in the 2015 Knabe Cup.

Experienced in international competition, Lee played in the 2012 Junior Open Championship, was a member of the 2013 and 2015 PING Junior Solheim Cup Team, the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup Team, the 2012-14 Wyndham Cup Team, and for the United States in 2015 Pan American Games, where she won a silver medal.

An all-around athlete, competed in soccer, figure skating and Tae Kwon Do, earning a black belt at age 10. She has made four holes-in-one and a double-eagle.
