STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford sophomore Andi Sullivan is one of 15 players in the country selected as a Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Semifinalist – an annual award given to the nation’s best player.

Sullivan is the 11th Stanford player to earn semifinalist recognition and her selection marks the 13th time a Cardinal player has been named a semifinalist. She is the only representative from the Pac-12.

"I am very happy that Andi has been recognized as one of the top 15 finalists for the Hermann Trophy," said Stanford head coach Paul Ratcliffe. "Andi is an incredible leader and was a catalyst defensively and offensivley for our team's success this season."

Sullivan is an elite two-way player, leading Stanford in points (12), goals (5) and game-winning goals (3) for a majority of the season while also leading one of the nation’s best defenses as a holding midfielder. She started every game and played all but 37:30 minutes during the season.

The sophomore captain helped Stanford record 12 shutouts and limit opponents to 13 goals on the season (0.55 GAA). Her control, distribution and defense makes her the key orchestrator of both Stanford’s offense and defense.

Sullivan led Stanford to an undefeated conference season and Pac-12 title, was an All-Pac-12 First Team selection and earned Player of the Week honors during the season from the Pac-12 and TopDrawerSoccer. Academically, she earned the first Pac-12 All-Academic honor of her career.

Captain Clutch » All five of Sullivan's goals either gave Stanford a lead or eliminated a one-goal deficit.

Sullivan was named Freshman of the Year in 2014 by Soccer America, TopDrawerSoccer and the Pac-12. She was the youngest player on the 2014 U.S. FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup team and captained the team to the championship.

Stanford has proud history of Hermann Trophy success. The Cardinal had three consecutive winners from 2009-11, with Kelley O’Hara, Christen Press, and Teresa Noyola. In addition, Lindsay Taylor was a finalist in 2011.

The Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in collegiate soccer. The finalists will be announced Dec. 11 and the men’s and women’s winners will be presented at a MAC Hermann Trophy award banquet in St. Louis on Jan. 8.

Sullivan scored her second of three game-winners at Arizona State (Oct. 2).
