STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford women’s soccer sophomore Andi Sullivan was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America first-team All-American, as announced Friday by the organization.

Sullivan is the 14th first-team All-American in program history and the first since Alina Garciamendez and Rachel Quon earned honors in 2012. The sophomore co-captain was named one of 15 semifinalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy – an annual award given to the nation’s best player – and an NSCAA first-team All-Pacific Region selection earlier this week.

Sullivan is the only Pac-12 representative on the All-America first team and is one of five Pac-12 players to receive All-America recognition. She is the only sophomore and one of two underclassmen on the first team.

"Andi is very deserving of this selection," said Stanford head coach Paul Ratcliffe. "She is the anchor of our team and helped lead the team to another successful season. I regard Andi as one of the best players I have coached at Stanford. She has everything you want in a player - technically gifted, athletic, competitive and a tremendous leader."

Sullivan is an elite two-way player, leading Stanford in points (12), goals (5) and game-winning goals (3) for a majority of the season while also leading one of the nation’s best defenses as a holding midfielder. She started every game and played all but 37:30 minutes during the season.

All five of Sullivan's goals either gave Stanford a lead or eliminated a one-goal deficit.

Sullivan led the Cardinal to an undefeated conference season and Pac-12 title, was an All-Pac-12 First Team selection and earned Player of the Week honors during the season from the Pac-12 and TopDrawerSoccer. Academically, she earned the first Pac-12 All-Academic honor of her career.

Sullivan was named Freshman of the Year in 2014 by Soccer America, TopDrawerSoccer and the Pac-12. She was the youngest player on the 2014 U.S. FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup team and captained the team to the championship.
