STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford senior Brandon Vincent was named a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American it was announced Thursday morning.

The award for men’s soccer is chosen by a vote of Division I men’s soccer coaches, national soccer media and fans and is given annually to outstanding senior student-athletes in Division I men’s soccer. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete in 10 NCAA sports and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

A MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and the 2015 Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Vincent has anchored Stanford’s back line over the past four years, starting in each and every one of his 78 appearances. The two-time captain has also claimed back-to-back Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honors and is the only person to ever win the award, which was instituted last season.

Third on the team in goals (5) and fifth in points (12), Vincent’s defensive work has championed a Stanford unit that is 11th in the nation in goals against average (0.69). In August, he was called by U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team head coach Andi Herzog for the first College Identification Training Camp. Vincent scored the third goal for the U.S. in its 3-1 win over Club Tijuana's Segunda Premier Team, which wrapped camp on August 7.

Academically, the senior owns a 3.3 GPA and has twice been a Pac-12 all-academic selection. One of 23 Stanford student-athletes majoring in economics, Vincent will graduate two quarters early and finished his studies with the completion of his last econ final on Wednesday night.

Vincent has led the Cardinal to its first College Cup in 13 years. Stanford, which landed in Kansas City on Wednesday afternoon, plays Akron at Sporting Park on Friday in one national semifinal on ESPNU (7:30 p.m. CT).
