Update Regarding the RCRA Waste Sampling Draft Technical Guidance
In section XI of the preamble to the October 30, 2002 Methods Innovation Proposed Rule, we announced the availability for comment of a draft stand-alone sampling guidance document entitled "RCRA Waste Sampling Draft Technical Guidance." This guidance was proposed as a replacement for the current sampling guidance version of Chapter Nine found in EPA publication SW-846. The Agency received a number of comments on the proposed revision which are still under review and consideration. This review of the document will help us improve the guidance and ensure that it is most useful in its final form.
Therefore, we are not at this time issuing the Technical Guidance. Once we complete our review and evaluation of the comments, we will revise the document as appropriate and announce its availability in the Federal Register. Upon completion, the new guidance will update information regarding sampling activities which is currently provided in Chapter Nine of SW-846, which was last published in 1986. Until the completion of the Technical Guidance, Chapter Nine will remain the applicable guidance.
