SAN FRANCISCO - No. 39 Stanford cruised past BYU 6-1 on Friday night for its second consecutive victory and third overall this season.
Originally scheduled for a 2 p.m. start on Saturday at Taube Family Tennis Stadium, the match was changed to a rare 10 p.m. start on Friday and shifted indoors at Bay Club San Francisco Tennis due to inclement weather.
The match finally wrapped up at 12:40 a.m. early Saturday, with Stanford (3-2) making quick work of BYU (7-3), which had won five in a row.
The Cardinal easily controlled the doubles point, dropping only three games combined between victories on courts two and three.
David Wilczynski, who improved to 4-0 in duals with victories at four different spots in the lineup, put Stanford in front 2-0 after defeating Andrey Goryachkov 6-0, 6-1.
Robert Stineman followed with his first dual win of the season, defeating Juan Canales 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot.
Tom Fawcett provided the clincher with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Francis Sargeant at the top spot of the lineup.
The Cougars picked up their only point when Jacob Sullivan edged Yale Goldberg 4-6, 7-6 (6), 1-0 (6) at the No. 5 position.
Stanford returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 17, hosting Sacramento State at 3 p.m. PT.
