Lichtman Joins Staff

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford alumna Cassidy Lichtman will join the Stanford women's volleyball staff as an assistant coach, head coach John Dunning announced today.

“We are very excited that Cassidy is joining our staff, she cares deeply about Stanford volleyball,” said Dunning. “She has an extraordinary volleyball mind and now, after playing professionally and on the U.S. National Team for the past five years, she has a wide variety of volleyball experiences.

“She will impact our program in many ways, certainly one of those being that she is a role model for anyone who interacts with her.”

Lichtman played for the Cardinal from 2007-10, competing in two Final Fours, reaching the national title match in 2007 and 2008. She also helped guide Stanford to four consecutive Pac-10 championships during her time on The Farm. She was a two-time AVCA First Team All-American and a three-time All-Pac-10 Conference honoree.

“I have so much love for the Stanford volleyball program and I am excited to return as a coach,” stated Lichtman. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with John, Denise and the entire staff, and to help in any way I can. We have a great group of returning players and a lot of new talent coming in, and I can't wait to get to work with them!”

A versatile athlete, Lichtman played multiple positions during her career, including setter, outside hitter, opposite and defensive specialist, racking up 51 career double-doubles, including 14 triple-doubles. She still ranks in the top 10 in program history with 2,366 career assists.

A native of Poway, California, Lichtman was also an Academic All-American, earning first team honors from CoSIDA as a senior. A three-time Pac-10 All-Academic pick, she graduated with a degree in political science and a master's in history from Stanford in 2011.

Litchtman has also had a successful professional career, playing for the U.S. National Team and overseas in Poland, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, France and China. Most recently, she helped the U.S. win gold at the 2015 Pan American Cup and Pan American Games. She has also represented the United States at the 2014 Pan American Cup (silver), 2013 Pan American Cup (gold), 2013 NORCECA Championship (gold), 2013 FIVB Grand Champions Cup (silver), 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix (sixth), 2012 Pan American Cup (gold) and 2011 Pan American Games (bronze).

Lichtman replaces Jason Mansfield, who is now an assistant coach at the University of Illinois.
