2016 Schedule Revealed

STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford women's volleyball program has announced its fall schedule In conjunction with the Pac-12 Network releasing its 2016 television picks, Monday. The Cardinal has 17 matches slated for coverage on the Pac-12 Networks and two on ESPNU.

It marks the fifth season of live women's volleyball coverage on the Pac-12 Networks with 94 matches set to be broadcast in 2016. After opening the season at home against San Diego on Friday, Aug. 26, Stanford will take on 2015 Final Four participant Minnesota on Sunday, Aug. 28 on Pac-12 Bay Area. The Cardinal is opening the season at home for the second straight season.

Stanford will then hit the road for the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge, hosted by Pac-12 foe Colorado. Stanford will face Illinois on Friday, Sept. 3 in Boulder, Colorado, before taking on perennial powerhouse Penn State on Saturday, Sept. 4 on Pac-12 Networks.

Stanford's only home matches in September are against Purdue (Sept. 9), another NCAA Tournament team from 2015, and Cal Poly (Sept. 11). The Cardinal closes out its nonconference schedule on the road at Saint Mary's (Sept. 16) and at Pacific (Sept. 17).

For the second consecutive year, Stanford opens Pac-12 play on the road at Bay Area rival California (Sept. 20). In fact, the Cardinal's first four conference matches will be played on the road. After a Sept. 23 trip to Oregon State, which is the only meeting between the two teams during the regular season, the Cardinal will head to the Pacific Northwest to take on Washington (Sept. 28) and Washington State (Sept. 30).

Stanford will finally return to the friendly confines of Maples Pavilion for six of its eight matches during the month of October, beginning with Colorado (Oct. 7) on the Pac-12 Networks and Utah (Oct. 9). After a visit from the Arizona schools, Stanford heads south to battle UCLA (Oct. 21) on Pac-12 Networks and USC (Oct. 23) on ESPNU. October wraps-up for the Cardinal with Washington (Oct. 26) and Washington State (28).

After a trip to the mountain school in early November, Stanford will clash USC (Nov. 10) on ESPNU and UCLA (Nov. 12) in Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal's final Pac-12 road trip will take it to the desert to face Arizona State (Nov. 18) and Arizona (Nov. 20).

Stanford hosts Oregon on Nov. 23, its only meeting against the Ducks in 2016, before welcoming Cal for Senior Night on Friday, Nov. 25. Both contests will air on the Pac-12 Networks.

The NCAA Tournament begins with opening rounds, Dec.2-3 at campus sites, and NCAA Regional action will take place the following week, Dec. 9-10. The Final Four is set for Dec. 15-17 in Columbus, Ohio.

Stanford returns 11 players from the 2015 roster, including All-Americans Inky Ajanaku, Hayley Hodson and Merete Lutz. Six freshmen will join the Cardinal this fall. All dates, times and telecasts are subject to change.
