Mechanisms underlying a thalamocortical transformation during active tactile sensation
When mice perform an active object localization task with their whiskers, thalamic neurons and inhibitory fast-spiking (FS) interneurons in L4 encode whisker movement and touch, whereas L4 excitatory neurons respond almost exclusively to touch. To explain these observations, Gutnisky et al. construct a computational model based on measured circuit parameters.
