Assistant Professor of Comparative Medicine, earning a DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a MD from Wake Forest University. Completed an internal medicine residency at West Virginia University and an infectious disease fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining Stanford, held a faculty appointment at The Ohio State University in the Departments of Microbial Infection and Immunity and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Current Research and Scholarly Interests


Conducts basic, translational, and clinical research exploring host defense against cancer and microbial pathogens. Specific focus on: 1) effects of exogenous sex steroids on basic mechanisms of anti-virus host defense; 2) role of Type 2 immunity as defense against Chlamydia trachomatis infection; and 3) developing cellular immunotherapies to combat infectious disease and cancer
