Preference is given to early graduate and advanced undergraduate students. Course will focus on the restoration of the 1962 Cadillac DeVille project car as a design investigation. Topics include: what makes a car a classic? How does this car express luxury, and how is that different from contemporary luxury products? What does the car say about the American identity, and how has that changed over the past half-century? Every student can expect to get their hands dirty; prior automotive experience is not required but everyone is expected to be motivated to learn. Our goal is to have the car operational again by the end of the Fall Quarter. Enrollment limited to 15. View more information here.
