Every summer, Stanford Economics hosts a series of workshop sessions in economic theory and mathematical economics. This program is known as Stanford Institute for Theoretical Economics (SITE).
Each SITE session combines leading senior researchers in the topic area with economists newer to the field who would benefit from attending. We make a special effort to identify those economists and offer assistance to attend. With oversight from the SITE Director, Avner Greif, sessions are organized in a decentralized fashion by small groups of economists and other SITE associates, along with selected senior collaborators from outside Stanford.
SITE 2016
- Sessions will be announced in January-February, 2016.
- Call for papers will go out in February-March, 2016.
- Deadlines for paper submissions will be April-May, 2016.
- Sessions will be held June-August, 2016.

Funding
SITE is funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), and the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
History
From 1969 to 1988, the program was organized by the Economics Section of the Institute for Mathematical Studies in the Social Sciences (IMSSS), headed by Mordecai Kurz. In 1989 the program was reorganized to its current formation as the Stanford Institute for Theoretical Economics. Past directors of SITE include Paul Milgrom, Kenneth Arrow, Peter Hammond, Thomas Sargent, B. Douglas Bernheim, Ilya Segal, Matt Jackson and Kyle Bagwell of the Economics Department, along with Robert Wilson of the Graduate School of Business and Kenneth Judd of the Hoover Institution.
