Meet Your New Advisees!

The Class of 2019 is on their way!

New Student Orientation (NSO) is right around the corner. The class of 2019 arrives on Tuesday, September 15th and they will hit the ground running…the NSO Student Events Calendar is packed!

PMA Orientation and Training is scheduled for Friday, September 11th and Monday, September 14th from noon until 2:30 p.m. in the Arrillaga Alumni Center (PMAs with transfer students and/or student-athletes are asked to stay until 3 pm). In previous years, PMAs attending one of these sessions were handed individual folders for each new advisee. These folders included photographs, background information, academic interests, and the letter that each student writes to their future advisor.

This year, we will not be distributing those folders at Orientation and Training. Instead, each Pre-Major Advisor will receive an email on Friday, September 4th with the names of your new advisees and the time/location of their scheduled advising meetings. You will then be able to look them up using the Stanford Lookup tool.

Here are step-by-step instructions for using Stanford Lookup.

Here is a quick link to LOOKUP

In addition to being a more ecologically responsible practice, using Lookup to distribute advisee profiles helps introduce this useful tool. You can use Lookup to see photos, demographics, interests, and the letter that each of your advisees wrote to you this past summer. Additionally, you will be able to see their current course schedule, as well as their previous courses and grades. This is a quick, easy way to check up on your advisees to see how they are doing academically.

You will still need to log into Axess to lift the ADV 20 hold but please note that you do not need to lift the ADV 20 hold during NSO. All incoming students will have their hold lifted simultaneously by UAR on Friday, September 18th so that they will be able to enroll in Autumn Quarter courses.
