Stacey F. Bent
Stacey F. Bent is Director of the TomKat Center for Sustainable Energy and the Chair, and Professor, in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University. She also holds courtesy appointments in the departments of Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Chemistry. She leads an active research group in semiconductor processing, surface science, and materials chemistry. She and her students and postdoctoral scholars work toward applications in renewable energy devices and next-generation microelectronics.
Executive Director Innovation Transfer
Brian J. Bartholomeusz
Brian is the TomKat Center’s executive director of innovation transfer. In this position, he assists in the commercialization of energy-related technology inventions and innovations resulting from research at Stanford. Brian has held senior technology management positions in startups and established companies. He has focused on business and technology strategies, and managed the development and commercialization of new products for renewable energy and consumer electronics. Brian has co-founded three startups, has advised numerous others and participated in a successful initial public stock offering. He has written more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and submitted 14 granted and pending patents. Brian earned a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Stanford, and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Cambridge University.
Center Manager & Program Coordinator
Danica A. Sarlya
Danica has held a number of finance and management positions over the last 15 years and has been at Stanford since 2007. She joined the TomKat Center in 2012 and is responsible for the financial and programmatic management of the center. She manages and oversees the center's grants and education programs and leads the very popular TomKat summer internship program at energy startup companies. Her background in design has her constantly looking for opportunities for improvement and ways to be more efficient. Danica serves as the primary TomKat liaison to the campus community and external entities. She is tremendously thankful that her work at the TomKat Center allows her to contribute to the exciting and meaningful advances being made at Stanford in sustainable energy.
