About

The DNA double helix is continually bent, stretched, and unwound by protein machines involved in reading, packaging, and editing the genome. I am developing new sensitive methods for monitoring these deformations in individual DNA molecules in real time. This will allow me to elucidate mechanistic details on the dynamic behavior of nucleoprotein complexes. My work may lead to medical advances such as the development of novel antibiotics that target this molecular machinery.
