CPI for all items increases 0.1% in October as shelter index rises

In October, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.1 percent seasonally adjusted;
rising 2.0 percent over the last 12 months, not seasonally adjusted. The index for all items less food
and energy rose 0.2 percent in October (SA); up 1.8 percent over the year (NSA).

The rising cost of dying, 1986–2017
We often talk about the cost of living, but there are also costs of dying. The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) began tracking funeral expenses in December 1986. In the 30 years since then, the price of funerals in the United States has risen almost twice as fast as all consumer prices. From December 1986 to September 2017, funeral expenses rose 227.1 percent, while consumer prices for all items increased 123.4 percent. read more »
