Employment up in 47 of 51 largest metropolitan areas, October 2017
From October 2016 to October 2017, nonfarm employment rose in 47 of the 51 metropolitan areas with a 2010 Census population of 1 million or more and fell in 4. The largest over-the-year percentage increases in employment in these large metropolitan areas occurred in Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, California (+3.0 percent each).

Percentage of employed women working full time little changed over past 5 decades
In 2016, 75 percent of employed women usually worked full time—that is, 35 or more hours per week. The remaining 25 percent usually worked part time (1 to 34 hours per week).

Nonfatal work-related injury and illness rates declined in six states in 2016
The 2.9 million nonfatal injuries and illnesses suffered by private industry workers on the job in 2016 occurred at a rate of 2.9 cases per 100 full-time equivalent workers nationally. Workers in 21 states experienced rates higher than the national average. Rates ranged from 1.5 cases per 100 workers in the District of Columbia to 4.7 cases in Maine.

Three states at historically low unemployment rates in October 2017
Unemployment rates were lower in October in 12 states, higher in 1 state, and stable in 37 states and the District of Columbia in October 2017. Compared with a year earlier, jobless rates decreased in 23 states, increased in 2 states and the District, and had little or no change 25 states.
