Approve dedicated bus lanes for El Camino Real Bus Rapid Transit

This petition had 104 supporters

To the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Board of Directors:

We urge the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority to approve the El Camino Real Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project with dedicated bus lanes. The project would convert the two middle lanes of El Camino Real to bus-only lanes, cutting bus transit times by 40% from Palo Alto Transit Center to San Jose’s Diridon Station. Dedicated bicycle lanes and additional safety features would accompany the bus system modifications. The new system, which would rely on hybrid-electric buses, is essentially an above-ground subway — albeit a cheaper and more flexible one. El Camino BRT with dedicated bus lanes is an essential step towards development of a more just and sustainable transportation system in Silicon Valley.
