Maddie's Fund

Maddie’s Fund is a charitable organization established in 1999 for the purpose of guaranteeing loving homes to all healthy and treatable dogs and cats in shelters across the country. Since then, Maddie’s has awarded over $70 million to animal welfare agencies and universities that share the goal of creating a “no-kill nation.” The County of Santa Clara Animal Care & Control supports this goal, and we are very excited to be working with Maddie’s to achieve it.

As part of our commitment to Maddie’s, we are working with a coalition of animal welfare agencies called WeCARE. This coalition will work towards our common goals of increasing adoptions and reclaims and reducing euthanasia.

Maddie’s Fund also encourages transparency in animal welfare agencies. This is accomplished by the standardized collection and publication of relevant statistics: number of animals coming into the shelter and number of animals being returned to their original owners, adopted into new homes, or euthanized.

In 2009, the County of Santa Clara  Animal Care & Control received a $20,000 grant from Maddie's Fund. To meet the requirements of the grant, we publish our shelter statistics yearly.

In September 2013, the County of Santa Clara Animal Care & Control division received $58,500 as a result of participating in Maddie's Pet Adoption Days in June 2013. We thank all that adopted and those who contributed in making this a huge success!
