We welcome a special guest to the show this week: Mozilla’s VP of product for the Firefox browser, Nick Nguyen. Nick is the leader of the team that just released Firefox Quantum, a lighter and more efficient version of the Firefox browser. It’s been making waves as the first serious competitor to Chrome that’s come along in years, and it notably puts user privacy at the fore. Nick talks to us about the open web, net neutrality, the importance of choice in the software market, and the places where boring old web browsers can continue to innovate.
Some notes: Read David’s story about Firefox Quantum. Try the browser yourself. Recommendations this week: She’s Gotta Have It on Netflix, Bricklink, and Vivino. Send the hosts feedback on their personal Twitter feeds. Nick Nguyen is @osunick, David Pierce is @pierce, and Michael Calore is @snackfight. Bling the main hotline at @GadgetLab. Our theme song is by Solar Keys.
